Chef/Owner Bill Gilbert moved to Lake Tahoe in 1979. He worked at Le Petit Pier as a busboy, but owner Jean Dufau asked him to help out in the kitchen on his first night. Bill remained in the kitchen, and six months later, Bill was working as Chef Jean-Pierre Doignon’s assistant at La Cheminée, a restaurant co-owned by Jeane Pierre and Tommy Cortopassi. After 5 years, Bill moved on to become chef for Yves Pimparel at La Table Française. Other chef positions include Marie’s Petit Bistro, Metro Grill, and Galena Forest Restaurant.
In November 2002, Bill opened Beaujolais Bistro with his wife Trisha, and in-laws Jerry and Teresa Jackson.
